As part of our courses students are set the task of setting up gigs and events.
This is the poster for the next gig that has been organise by Richard Thornton
Well done to all our BTEC students who were involved in the Heinz57 Gig this week,
it was a great success and we hope you take what you have learned from the experience and carry on producing music opportunities outside of college.
We will aim to get some footage up soon for anyone who missed it, but for now take a look at the brilliant poster that was designed by our students.
We have our Annual String workshop and Concert on Tuesday 14th March.
All our string students are invited and they will be able to take part in the workshop ensemble rehearsal from 5.30pm At 7:00pm we will then have a performance for parents and friends. The ensemble will cater for all students from beginners up to more advanced students and there will suitable music for each player.
All family and friends are welcome to come along to watch the performance.
Admission is free (donations are very welcome) and there will be refreshments served before the Performance.
A good beginning never ends! How true is that! Our friend Marta and her family joined Soar Valley Music Centre back in 2013. Marta, who was 5 years old at the time, enrolled in the Kindermusik for the Young Child class, which is two year programme and her little brother joined our Kindermusik Laugh and Learn Family class with Mum and Marta.
While in Kindermusik, Marta learnt to read and write notes, recognise the rhythmic values and apply them on the glockenspiel, the dulcimer and the recorder. She also experienced games and musical samples from a wide range of composers, genres and cultures. At the same time she learnt to listen to her classmates and play along with them as they formed their first Kindermusikorchestra!
When Marta graduated from Kindermusik, she decided to continue her music exploration and learning, with the piano and now the violin too!
